World Card Making Day and GNO Projects

October 4th is officially World Card Making Day, so in honor of this very popular holiday, we made 4 different cards for Girls' Night Out. I was pretty pleased with how they all turned out and everyone had so much fun! Getting together with friends, stamping 'til the late hours of the night, enjoying yummy food and hilarious girl talk - ahhh...it doesn't get much better than that!

The colors on this are a little off, but again, that's just my dumb camera and lack of photography skills. You get the idea though. We embossed a few elements on this card with Silver Embossing Powder. To create a fun accent behind the skull stamp, we embossed it and then used a sponge to daub on some Kiwi Kiss ink. My sister says it looks like it could glow in the dark - very cool!

This card uses the Pick A Petal stamp set (the greeting is retired - sorry!) and I wish I could take credit for such a cute idea. I found it on Splitcoast Stampers; how amazing that you can use the images to make something completely different from what it was designed for. Now that's creativity!

I hadn't used Heartfelt Thanks in quite awhile so I figured it was time to dig it out. I found the layout for this on Splitcoast Stampers and made just a few changes. I love the new Bella Rose Designer Series Paper this year - I think it coordinates perfectly with the flower on this card. We used a fun technique to achieve the watercolor look of the flower. Spritz a piece of watercolor paper with water - you don't need much, just enough to wet the paper. Using your Watercolor Crayons, color directly onto the stamp and then stamp onto the wet paper. When you remove your stamp you'll see that the crayon instantly spreads just enough to make it look as though you watercolored it yourself! Allow the paper to dry and then stamp your second image on top of the first one to give a more dimensional look to your flower. Voila! An elegant card that makes you look like a natual artist.

As beautiful as the last card was, this is my absolute favorite. We used a technique similar to the one we used on the first Halloween card. After embossing our image with white embossing powder, we used a Stipple Brush to create a soft texture behind our stamped image. So simple to put together, but one that the recipient will be sure to keep!

Our next GNO is November 14th at 7:00 pm. I'm planning to post our projects next week, so keep checking back!

Girls' Night Out is Tomorrow!

Hey Stampers!
Things are insanely busy around here, so I apologize profusely for the lack of posting. I just can't seem to find the time to get everything done. I really do have the best of intentions and ideas for more projects than I can possibly create, but just like the old saying - Life is what happens while you're making other plans!

Girls' Night Out is tomorrow night and I'm still frantically trying to get our projects ready. I hope to have some samples up soon so that you can get a look at them. In honor of World Card Making Day this month we'll be making several cards rather than a scrapbook page.

I hope you can make it tomorrow! Please try to let me know if you'll be attending so that I can have supplies cut and ready for you. If you forget to RSVP - please come anyway! I'd never turn anyone away :)

So Much Fun!

We had a great time Friday night - lots of laughter and some great girl talk! It was so nice to sit back and relax with my friends. Sorry the picture is a little blurry, I got a new camera a few months ago and it's not as great as the reviews said. I can't seem to get consistently good pictures. Ugh.

Thanks for coming Brianne, Beckie and Isabel - I really had a great time :)

GNO Halloween Page

Finally...I have our scrapbook page finished. I hope this helps you to decide what picture(s) you'd like to bring so that when you leave tomorrow night, you'll have a completely finished scrapbook page!

I orginally tried to scraplift this layout from the cover of this month's Scrapbook's Etc. It didn't end up looking much like the orginal and I'm still a little unsure about the placement of my pictures, but I don't think it turned out too bad. Besides, I've rearranged every element on this page about a hundred times and I should probably just leave well enough alone :)

Girls' Night Out - Tomorrow!

Can you believe it's Girls' Night again? Where does the time go? I've been working on our projects during every spare second I have and I think you'll be pleased at what I've come up with. I know I am :)

Here is the card we'll be making:

I found the inspiration for this card on the Split Coast Stampers website. Here's the web address: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1046741?si=heard%20from%20the%20heart

I'm still working diligently on our scrapbook page. It's a Halloween theme so feel free to bring your own pictures to finish off the page. I should have a picture posted early this evening. If the kids cooperate - that is!

As always, please let me know if you're planning to come so that I can have enough supplies cut for everyone. The class is $4 - club members are free - and I provide all the supplies you'll need. If you'd like to bring your own adhesive that's definitely ok, but I will have glue sticks for you to use. I prefer to use SNAIL adhesive myself - it's less messy and doesn't warp the paper.

I can't wait to see you all tomorrow night!
