Sketch #11

Yikes! Sorry about the gaps in posting - things have been a little crazy around here. Life is starting to get back to normal, so I should be a little better about posting regularly. I may even start up again with Technique Thursday - wouldn't that be a miracle? ;)

My last post was about the new site I found called 52 sketches 52 weeks, so I thought I'd post my completed layout. I really liked how it turned out. I used a retired Simply Scrappin' Kit called Creative License. I'm so sad it's not around anymore. I love it - it's perfect for little boys.

52 Sketches...52 Weeks

I wanted to share something with all of you that I'm really excited about. It's a website called 52 Sketches...52 weeks. You can sign up to be a part of the challenge - it's free and really fast. Each week a new scrapbook page sketch will be posted and you have the opportunity to create the page and the post it on the site. There are weekly prizes too!

I hear from a lot of people that they think I'm this amazing scrapbooker and they're jealous of all the scrapbooks that I must have. Now, don't get me wrong - I'm appreciative of the compliments - but I feel like a fraud. A majority of the scrapbook pages that I have finished are ones that I've designed for my classes. I don't actually have a bookcase filled with scrapbooks. Are you shocked?

So, long story short, I think this challenge is a great way for me to finally start filling up all those scrapbooks! I'd love it if you'd join me. After you sign up as a member on the site you can add me as a friend - it's so much fun!

Here's a picture of this week's sketch:

Adorable, right? So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and sign up!

Just for Fun

This is an idea I've "been meaning to get to" for oh, about a year and a half! I can't believe I put it off for so long - it didn't take that long to make. It's a Classified Board for Relief Society that we'll put up each Sunday. This way, if anyone has need of something, or something that they'd like to give - they can put up an "ad". Cute huh? I got the idea from another ward forever ago.

I used some paper that retired a couple of years ago and cut it into 1 1/2" x 2" squares. I also used a strip of Chocolate Chip cardstock to offset the patterned paper. With the exception of cutting out the letters, I think it only took me a half hour to design, cut out and assemble everything. It was a lot of fun!

How Cute is This?

I saw this adorable note card holder on my friend Megan's blog and loved it so much that I immediately followed the link there to Dannie's blog for the instructions on how to make it. It was so easy and so much fun to make that I can't stop making them! I've already made two and I'm planning to make more. :)

The only change I made to the design was to use Textured Cardstock for the base of the card holder. I think I'll play around with the design a little bit on the next set I make. I also used some retired DS paper - Hawaiian Papaya. I really, really loved this paper and was so sad to see it retire. I'm thrilled that Stampin' Up! will be going back to one catalog a year. That'll give me more time to enjoy the stuff I love!
