MDS Blog Hop - Spring Break!

Good Morning!  I'm hoping that wherever you are, you're enjoying lovely Spring weather.  Here on the East coast we seem to have skipped the lovely 70 degree temps and moved straight into 80+.  I have to say, I wasn't expecting to use my air conditioner in April, but I wished for warmer weather so I guess beggars can't be choosers!

Spring Break for my kids was the last week in March and it started out with snow - aack!  Not what I wanted to see happen.  It warmed up a bit through the week, but not much.  Still, my friend Sarah and I braved the cold to go outside with the kids.  I think we're all suffering from cabin fever.  Hidden Pond is one of my kids favorite places to go.  There's a great nature center where we can look at snakes, turtles, crayfish, and skinks.  Have you ever heard of a skink? Neither had I!  The pond is also fantastic for some fishing.  Well...my kids use nets but that's ok. I'm not ready to hand them a pole with a metal hook on the end.  Sadly we only found one little fish on this outing but the kids still had a great time.

I'm a huge fan of Crystal Wilkerson and I use her layouts as inspiration often. This one I outright copied, but I think I've mentioned before that I'm ok with that. :)

I wanted to incorporate some fun bright patterns into this page so I pulled open couple of kits that I loved when I bought, but haven't been able to figure out how to use - Neon Notes and Here and There.  Both kits have really busy patterned paper and I've struggled to find a way to use them without overpowering my page.  This is still a pretty busy layout, but I like the brightness of the page - makes it seem like our Spring Break was sunny and warm!

This month we're really excited to have Monika Davis join us as a guest blogger!  She's really talented and I always love her layouts.  Hope you have fun on today's hop!
